What to expect in an IST session

At the beginning of the session you will learn two techniques: throat friction and sensations in the third eye. We will practice in a seated meditation position. Once we start to feel the shift in the energy you lie down on the mat and the IST session begins.

IST stands for the Inner Space Techniques. We enter the inner space together to explore consciousness in an interactive dialogue. I scan your energy for a spot of intensity in your body and place a finger on it. That will be the spot from which we follow sensation, images or feelings. Throughout the session you are invited to share your inner experience and I will ask questions that lead you deeper.

The goal of IST is to uncover samskaras, imprints in the psyche, that are left behind by traumatic or intense experiences in the past. These samskaras can create blocks to the flow of energy and are the source of emotional reactions which pop up when triggered by a similar situation in your life now. These are the things we keep repeating, even though we “know” better. Unconscious patterns that run our life.

It can be hard to get to the core of a samskara by ourself, because we have protection mechanisms that create an encapsulation around the original trauma to protect us from feeling the pain of it. So a reaction is happening, but we can’t see clearly why. Or we have a sense of why, but we can’t stop reacting in the same way, which builds layers of similar experiences around the original memory. In the inner space of IST and through the dialogue with the practitioner these encapsulations start to come undone. We re-experience what actually happened allowing our current awareness to reclaim our power from the past. Samskaras are resolved and you are freed up to live with more vitality and choice.

Often people have deep experiences of energy, spiritual forces and/or their true self and childlike innocence from the first session of IST and leave feeling refreshed. Beyond clearing samskaras IST is a great way to develop your inner vision, the ability to perceive energetic patterns in yourself and the world.

Preparation

Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing. IST makes us extra sensitive so please refrain from wearing scents and consuming any mind altering substances beforehand. No alcohol or recreational drugs for at least 24 hours. No caffeine on the day of the session. A small meal beforehand is ok.

Check yourself for cold, flu or covid symptoms. If you feel at all sick, let’s reschedule the session. It is more pleasant to do the work without a mask, but you are welcome to wear one and I will also, if you prefer. I will have the window open and HEPA air filters running in the house.

Sometimes people feel a bit altered, so it is good to plan some time to get grounded after the session. Maybe take a short walk or sit in your car and journal. Also have some time in the following days to digest what has been revealed.

I offer in person sessions in Portland Oregon or virtually via gmeet. You can set up a free intro call and book sessions on my booking page or text me with questions and for additional availability at 503.975.8504

(There are cats in my home office. They do not go in the treatment room, but if allergies are a concern for you, let’s discuss options.)
